Classification: Non-Exempt, Part-time Employee, Non-Benefit Eligible

Location: Remote with some in-person activities (Twin Cities Area)

Pay: $20/hr

Role: The Volunteer Manager is an important position on TC Food Justice’s leadership team. TC Food Justice’s success relies on a team of volunteers who select shifts to pick up food at donation locations and deliver it directly to food shelves and community kitchens. Managing this effort necessitates a high degree of coordination and attention to detail, as well as a positive attitude. This position is responsible for the daily coordination of and communication with current and prospective volunteers. The Volunteer Manager helps assess and meet the organization’s needs through volunteer recruitment, screening, placement, supervision, and retention. This role helps build and maintain a positive working relationship with volunteers and staff members as well as a variety of organizations and groups in the larger community.

Qualifications:

• Good people skills, cultural sensitivity and understanding, a positive “can-do” attitude

• Strong listening and conflict management skills

• Must be comfortable using basic technology including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Gmail, Google Drive, and online apps.

• Organized with good attention to detail

• Comfortable working with a wide range of people including youth, donors, retirees, college students and families in a diverse community.

• Strong verbal and written communications skills

• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently

• Highly mobile and willing to travel throughout Twin Cities area on a regular basis to meet volunteers, transfer supplies and cover rescue shifts

• Must have valid driver’s license and auto insurance if your primary mode of transportation is a personal vehicle

• Prefer previous experience working with or supervising volunteers or other groups of people

• Personal phone and regular (daily) access to computer or internet
